Crawl Space Cleaning
Clearing Debris and Restoring Your Crawl Space
When a crawl space suffers from improper ventilation, broken vapor barriers, or water damage, the environment under your home deteriorates rapidly. This deterioration leads to saturated insulation, pest infestations, and hazardous mold growth. To resolve these issues, you must first clear the physical space.
At Elite Moisture Solutions, we provide professional crawl space clean-outs and debris extraction. We perform a complete clearing of the area, extracting ruined insulation, construction debris, and contaminated materials. This physical clearing process is the critical first step required to perform proper mold remediation, stop structural damage, and restore the indoor air quality of your home.
Please note: While we extract groundwater and clean water leaks, we do not provide raw sewage extraction or biohazard cleanup services.
Homeowners often know they require a professional clean-out because they are already experiencing severe secondary symptoms inside their living areas. If you observe the following issues, your crawl space requires immediate debris removal and cleaning:

Musty Odors in the Home: You smell a persistent, damp, musty odor circulating through your living areas, indicating biological decay and contaminated materials below.
High Indoor Humidity: The air inside your house feels damp due to improper crawl space ventilation and broken vapor barriers allowing ground moisture to rise.
Standing Water: Active leaks or groundwater intrusion have flooded the dirt floor, turning old debris and dust into a saturated, muddy hazard.
Pest Infestations: You notice an increase in insects or rodents. These pests are directly attracted to the wet, cluttered environment and use the ruined insulation for nesting.
Visible Mold Growth: High humidity has caused mold to grow on the structural wood and debris, requiring the space to be cleared before proper mold remediation can begin.
Damaged Insulation: The fiberglass insulation between your floor joists has absorbed water, become heavy, and collapsed onto the dirt floor.
We use a strict physical extraction process to clear your crawl space and prepare it for further moisture control systems.
Assessment: We inspect the space to identify the source of the water damage, broken vapor barriers, or poor ventilation causing the contamination.
Debris and Insulation Extraction: Our technicians manually collect and remove all scattered wood scraps, construction debris, and ruined fiberglass insulation from the dirt floor.
Vapor Barrier Removal: We pull up and extract the old, broken plastic vapor barriers that are trapping moisture against the soil.
Final Clearing and Prep: We remove the contaminated porous materials and rake the exposed dirt, creating a clean physical baseline required to begin targeted mold remediation or encapsulation.

The total cost of a crawl space cleaning project depends on the square footage of the home and the physical volume of debris and insulation that must be hauled out and disposed of.
Estimated Cost: A standard crawl space clean-out generally ranges from $500 to $1,500. If the project requires extensive water extraction or advanced mold remediation, the costs will adjust accordingly.
Flexible Financing: We make structural safety affordable. We offer 6-month, 12-month, and 18-month “same-as-cash” options, as well as traditional financing terms through our trusted partnerships with Regions Home Improvement Financing and Greensky.
Do you haul the old insulation and debris away?
Yes. We manually haul the ruined insulation, broken vapor barriers, and contaminated construction materials out of the crawl space and dispose of them off-site.
Why do you need to clean the space before removing mold?
Mold remediation requires direct access to your floor joists and a clear environment. We must extract the physical clutter, fallen insulation, and debris from the floor so our technicians can physically brush the wood and apply treatments without contamination.
Will cleaning fix my high humidity problem?
Cleaning removes the wet, porous materials that hold moisture, which helps lower humidity. However, to permanently fix the humidity, we must also address the broken vapor barriers and poor ventilation by installing a proper moisture control system.
Should I have my crawl space cleaned before pest control treatments?
Yes. Removing the scattered debris, torn liners, and damaged insulation eliminates the exact nesting environments pests look for, providing your exterminator with unblocked access to treat the foundation.
