Termites consume the wood in your crawl space. A pest control company can kill the active termite colony, but they do not repair the wood the termites have already eaten. The remaining wood is hollow, weak, and unable to support the weight of the floors, walls, and furniture above it.

At Elite Moisture Solutions, we provide the structural carpentry required to fix termite damage. We safely support the house, remove the hollowed-out timber, and replace the structural framing with new, pressure-treated lumber. This restores the load-bearing capacity of your floor system and prevents the floors inside your home from sagging.

Signs of Structural Termite Damage

Termite damage often goes unnoticed until the wood becomes so weak that the floors above begin to drop. If you see the following physical issues, the wood in your crawl space needs structural repair:

termite damage in the crawl space

Buckling Floors: The floors inside your house slope, dip, or buckle because the wood below can no longer support the weight.

Exterior Mud Tubes: You find narrow, pencil-sized tunnels made of dirt running up the foundation walls or brick piers in your crawl space.

Hollow or Soft Wood: The wooden floor joists and sill plates in the crawl space feel soft, appear compressed, or sound hollow when you tap them with a tool.

Piles of Frass: You observe small piles of wood-colored pellets, which are termite droppings, resting directly underneath the wooden floor framing.

Discarded Insect Wings: You find small piles of discarded wings near crawl space vents or doors, indicating an active and reproducing termite colony.

High Moisture and Mold: Your crawl space has excess humidity, active water leaks, or visible mold, which creates the exact damp environment that attracts termite colonies.

Our Termite Damage Repair Process

We use specific carpentry techniques to safely replace or reinforce wood that has been destroyed by termites.

Primary Goal: Remove structural weakness and safely support the weight of the home.

Material: We use pressure-treated lumber that is specifically manufactured to resist future termite activity and moisture damage.

Replacement: If the wood is completely destroyed, we place temporary supports to hold the floor, cut out the damaged sections, and install new pressure-treated girders or joists.

Sistering: If the termite damage is localized to a small area and the surrounding wood is strong, we attach a new piece of pressure-treated lumber directly alongside the damaged joist and bolt them together to restore the strength.

Cost & Financing for Termite Damage Repair

The total cost of repairing termite damage depends entirely on how much wood the termites consumed and how difficult it is to reach the damaged framing.

Estimated Cost: Most structural termite damage repairs in the Raleigh area range from $2,500 to $6,000.

Flexible Financing: We make structural safety affordable. We offer 6-month, 12-month, and 18-month “same-as-cash” options, as well as traditional financing terms through our trusted partnerships with Regions Home Improvement Financing and Greensky.

Frequently Asked Questions About Termite Damage Repair

No. Elite Moisture Solutions is a structural repair company. You must hire a licensed pest control company to exterminate the active termites. Once the termites are dead, we come in to replace the damaged wood.

Yes. Killing the termites stops further damage, but it does not restore the strength of the wood they have already eaten. The hollowed-out wood will continue to compress and cause your floors to sag until it is replaced.

This piece of wood is called the sill plate. If termites have eaten the sill plate, we use hydraulic jacks to carefully lift the house framing a fraction of an inch off the foundation wall. We slide the damaged wood out, insert the new treated wood, and lower the house back down.
