When the floors in the center of your home sink, the interior supports in your crawl space are failing. In many North Carolina homes, original brick columns settle into the soil over time. Wooden support posts also rot due to high moisture levels.

At Elite Moisture Solutions, we replace these failing systems with heavy-duty steel support jacks. It is important to know that we never place these jacks on dirt or compacted soil. We install every steel jack on a permanent cement footer. This provides a solid base to hold the weight of your home, stop downward movement, and lift your floors back toward their original position.

Signs Your Home Needs Support Jacks

When the columns in your crawl space sink or degrade, the floor above them drops. If you see the following physical changes in your home, your central support system requires repair:

floor gap

Sloping Surfaces: A distinct drop or slope in the floor, specifically leading toward the interior of the house rather than the exterior walls.

Interior Drywall Cracks: Vertical or diagonal cracks appearing in the drywall above interior doors or in the center hallways.

Failing Masonry Columns: Visible cracks in the mortar of your crawl space brick columns, or columns that are visibly leaning or sinking into the dirt.

Sticking Interior Doors: Doors inside your home that rub against the top or sides of the doorframe due to the floor dropping beneath them.

Our Support Jack Installation Process

We use steel support jacks to provide immediate and long-term structural repair.

Primary Goal: Stop settlement and lift sagging floors.

Material: Strong, rust-resistant steel columns.

Support Method: We dig into the soil and pour a permanent cement footer. The steel jack is placed on this solid concrete base. We then adjust the top of the jack to lift and secure the floor framing above it.

Best For: Replacing settling brick columns, replacing rotted wooden support posts, and providing vertical support for new floor beams.

Frequently Asked Questions About Support Jacks

No. Placing a steel jack directly on the dirt or compacted soil causes it to sink under the weight of the home. We install a permanent cement footer in the ground. The steel jack rests on this concrete base so it does not sink.

The support jacks we install have a protective zinc coating. This prevents rust, ensuring the structural capacity of the jack remains intact even in high-humidity environments.

We use the adjustable jacks to lift the floor safely. We stop lifting before the upward movement damages your drywall, plumbing lines, or floor tiles.

Yes. Our steel support jacks are designed for permanent stabilization. They are secured to both the cement footer below and the floor framing above.
